Underwater Torii of Daio-jinja Shrine
Taracho faces the Ariake Sea, which is said to be a "town where you can see the gravitational force of the moon" because the tide level difference at the time of full drying is up at a maximum of 6 meters.
The three torii "Uminaka Torii" built between Oojinja and Okinoshima are power spots of fantastic beauty that appear when the tide rises and sinks under the sea when the tide is full.
The large fish shrine, which enshrines the large fish Daimyojin, is said to have the benefits of sea safety and prayer for good fishing. About 300 years ago, when the evil government, who was drunk by residents and left behind on Okinoshima, was at high tide and the island began to sink, a large fish (Naminoo) appeared and put it on his back, and there is a legend that he built a large fish shrine and an underwater torii in the sea to thank him for his help.
It has been cherished as a guardian deity of the sea, and even now, the torii has been practiced to build one every 30 years.
