Autumn Grand Festival Karatsu-kunchi

The 14 Hikiyamas have been designated as important tangible folk cultural properties of Saga Prefecture and have been registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage in December 2016.

Hamasaki Gion Yamakasa (held on July 26, July 27, 2025)

◆This is a Gion festival and Yamakasa event dedicated to Suka Shrine (Gionsha), which is enshrined on the precincts of Suwa-jinja Shrine in Hamatama-cho, Karatsu City, which is held every year on Saturdays and Sundays immediately after the sea day in July.
The Hama area is a big catch, the east area is a thriving business, and the west area is a 15-meter-high Yamakasa that prays for the rich harvest of five grains goes around the town with a music consisting of flutes, drums, and shamisen.
